Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside
  • In a large mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy and well combined, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and beat until blended after each egg is added, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, scraping down the sides as needed. (Do not overmix the dough)
  • Use a spatula to fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms.
  • Using a medium cookie scoop to form even-sized cookie dough. Place on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Press extra M&Ms into the top of each cookie dough ball. (Note 3)

  • Allow the cookies to cool 5 to 7 minutes on the cookie sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to completely cool.

Notes

Be sure to check Variations, Expert Tips, and FAQs above with important tips and questions that can help make a delicious recipe.
Note 1: I always use unsalted butter so my salt measurement is based on using unsalted butter. If using salted butter, use ¼ teaspoon of salt.
Note 2: Use Easter-themed M&Ms for this recipe. Make these cookies for any holiday or celebration by using different colored candy-coated M&Ms. the extra ¼ cup of M&Ms is for the tops of the cookies.
Note 3: If you prefer a softer, chewier cookie, place the baking sheet with the cookie dough balls, covered in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for 60 minutes before baking.
