Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef use either 80/20, 85/15, or 90/20 ground beef for best results
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 hamburger buns
  • 3 slices American cheese any of your favorite cheese brands can be used.
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1 small yellow onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup iceburg lettuce, shredded
  • Thousand Island dressing

Instructions

  • Divide the ground beef into 3 even amounts. Mold and flatten into a patty. Make sure the center of the patty is thinner than the edge portion. This will allow for an even cook and maintain the size proportions as it cooks.
  • Season the patties evenly on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Place the burgers in the air fryer basket. I like to line my air fryer with aluminum for easy clean-up as well as keeping the Patties in the juices.
  • Cook at 350°F for 5 minutes, flip the burgers and cook an additional 5 minutes for a medium well hamburger. Longer or shorter than 2 minutes for the desired cook.
For cheeseburgers, after cooking for 5 minutes, flip the burgers and cook an additional 4 minutes. Then top each burger with cheese and cook for 1 more minute.
  •  To assemble, open the bun and place the patty on the bottom bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and Thousand Island dressing, and add the top bun.
  • Serve and enjoy.

Be sure to check Expert Tips and FAQs above with important tips and questions that can help make a delicious recipe.
Note 1: For easy clean-up,  line the air fryer with aluminum foil which will also keep the burgers cooking in the juices.
Notes:   The fattier meat keeps the hamburger patty from falling apart
⁃               You can sub or add mayonnaise, mustard, and or ketchup for the dressing.
⁃               Optional toppings include pickles, fried egg, and or avocado slices.
