Instant Pot Philly Cheesesteak

Instant Pot Philly Cheesesteak, tender, perfectly seasoned, and quickly cooked flank steak and peppers get covered with thinly sliced peppers and melted provolone cheese, there is nothing better than these tasty little sammies.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pepper marinated hanger steak Flank steak can be substituted, marinated to taste.
  • 2 medium bell peppers, seeded thinly sliced Any color, we use yellow and red in this recipe.
  • 1 cup water
  • 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls or sliders
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese, sliced 12 slices
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon corn starch, optional see step 2
  • parsley, chopped optional garnish

Instructions

  • Place meat, peppers, and water in the Instant Pot. Place lid on the pot and close pressure valve. Set to high pressure for 10 minutes.
  • When finished, release the pressure valve for an instant release. Once all steam is released, open lid. Remove meat and shred the meat with a fork. Add the meat back to the Instant Pot with peppers. For thicker sauce, add one Tablespoon of cornstarch.
  • Slice the Hawaiian slider bun in half. Add the bottom portion of the buns to an 8" x 8" baking pan.
  • Spoon meat and peppers onto the buns. Evenly distribute.
  • Cover meat and peppers with provolone cheese and set under the broiler on high. Should take about 3 minutes for the cheese to melt. ( do not walk away from broiler, the cheese may melt faster, depending on the oven)
  • Once cheese is melted remove and place top buns. Butter buns and garnish with parsley.
  • Serve and enjoy.
