Strawberry Syrup

How to make Strawberry Iced Tea

  • 1 cup strawberry syrup recipe below
  • ½ cup granulated white sugar
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 5 bags black tea Note 3
  • 6 cups water, divided
  • ice cubes
  • fresh mint and sliced strawberries optional garnish

Instructions

How to make Strawberry Syrup

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the strawberries, sugar, and water.
  • Cook, stirring occasionally for around 30 minutes or until the strawberries are soft.
  • Remove from heat and strain into a container. Set aside to cool down.

Strawberry Iced Tea

  • In a small saucepan, over medium heat, add 2 cups of water.
  • Heat the water to a rolling boil.
  • Remove from the heat and add the tea bags.
  • Let the tea steep for 5 minutes. Then discard the tea bags
  • Add the sugar and stir to combine.
  • Pour the strawberry syrup into a pitcher, add the tea and the remaining 4 cups of water.
  • Pour in the lemon juice and stirring once more.
  • Fill glasses with ice and serve.

Note 1: Sliced strawberries will release more juice for flavor into the water.
Note 2: The deeper the color of the strawberry, the riper the strawberry. 
Note 3: Any Green tea or decaffeinated tea can be also be used.  
Storage:
The strawberry syrup can be made ahead of time. Keep in an airtight covered container or mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. 
Keep the iced tea in the fridge in a large pitcher. We recommend drinking this tea within 24 hours for best flavor and freshness.
