Preheat the oven to 350°F/177°C. Prepare a 9"x 13" casserole dish with 1 Tablespoon avocado oil or nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown 2 pounds ground beef, breaking up the meat as it browns. Remove and discard excess grease from the pan. Season the ground beef with 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, and ½ teaspoon Hungarian paprika . Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, stir together 1 (29) ounce can, tomato sauce3 ½ cups beef broth.
To the bowl, stir in 3 ½ pounds green cabbage, cored and chopped, 1 cup yellow onion, diced ,1 cup long grain white rice, uncooked, and the browned ground beef mixture.
Transfer the ingredients to the prepared casserole dish.
Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven.
Uncover the casserole and carefully stir the contents in the casserole dish. Taste the casserole for seasoning; if needed, adjust seasonings. Re-cover and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes.
Remove the casserole from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes prior to serving.

Note 2: 1 large onion should produce 1 cup of onion. Note 3: Brown rice can be used. Do not use instant rice, it will not give a great consistency in the casserole.Note 4: I make this recipe a lot. I have adjusted the recipe for additional flavor by adding ½ teaspoon Hungarian paprika. If you don't have Hungarian paprika, use regular paprika. However, I advise for great flavor, invest in Hungarian paprika.
