Homemade hamburger helper is super easy to make in the crockpot or slow cooker. Ground beef seasoned to perfection with noodles and seasonings. The perfect comfort food dinner.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned throughout.
Place cooked ground beef in your crockpot. Discard excess grease.
To the ground beef, add diced onion, garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper.
Stir to combine. Pour in the beef broth and milk, stir to mix thoroughly, then secure the lid on your crockpot and set heat to high for 3 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
In the last 20-30 minutes of cook time, remove the lid and stir in the elbow noodles. Place the lid back on the crockpot for the remaining time.
Just before serving, stir in the shredded cheese.

Note 1: a blend of 80/20 ground beef is my first choice. Ground turkey or chicken can be used for this recipe. Note 2: We use full fat or 2% milk. Note 3: Pre-shredded cheese has a film on it which makes it difficult to melt. I prefer to shred a block of cheese when cooking. Note 4: If looking to reduce sodium, use sodium-free beef broth and no-salt tomatoes.
