In a large skillet combine 1 pound ground beef and 1 small onion, peeled and dicedCook over medium-high heat until meat is browned. Drain and discard excess grease.
To the meat mixture, add ⅓ cup Thousand Island Dressing, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Stir to combine, and continue simmering.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 1 Tablespoon cornstarch and ½ cup beef broth .
Add the broth mixture to the ground beef mixture, stir occassionally until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
Taste for seasoning, if needed, adjust any seasoning,
To serve, place a slice of the 8-10 slices American cheese on bottom bun of one of the 8-10 sesame seed buns , then add a bit of the meat mixture.
Next, add the bottom bun of another set of buns and then add more meat to the top of that bun.
Add another slice of the American cheese. Top with some shredded lettuce, optional topping , pickles, optional topping, and more dressing..
Top with the top of the bun.
