    The Big Mac Sloppy Joe is a marriage of two all-time American favorites: the Sloppy Joe and the Big Mac. It's easy to make and perfect for a weeknight dinner. Plus, it's kid-friendly and always a hit with the family.

    • Thousand Island Dressing
    • salt
    • black pepper
    • cornstarch
    • beef broth
    • American cheese
    • shredded iceberg lettuce, optional topping
    • pickles, optional topping
    • sesame seed hamburger buns

    Instructions

    1. In a large skillet combine ground beef and onions. Cook over medium-high heat until meat is browned. Drain and discard excess grease.
    2. To the meat mixture in the pan add Thousand Island dressing, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
    3. In a small bowl combine cornstarch and beef broth.
    4. Add the broth mixture to the pan over medium-high heat and stir until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
    5. To serve, place a slice of American cheese on a bottom bun, then add a bit of the meat mixture. 
    6. Next, add the bottom bun of another set of buns and then add more meat to the top of that bun.
    7. Add another slice of cheese. Top with shredded lettuce, pickles, and more dressing if you like, and then add the top bun.

    Storage

    This recipe will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. It can also be frozen for up to 2 months. I recommend that you store these sandwiches unassembled.

    You can brown the meat, onions, and dressing beforehand and freeze for when you are ready to throw everything in the pan.

    Freezer-Friendly Instructions - Big Mac Sloppy Joes are a great make ahead recipe. Make a double batch and freeze for later.

    The beef can be stored in freezer-safe bags or containers for up to 4 months in well-sealed containers or bags. Defrost overnight or use microwave instructions to defrost.

    • You can make these without the signature Big Mac middle bun and they will be just as delicious!

    My sauce isn't thickening. What can I do?

    If your sauce isn't thickening, it's likely because you didn't use enough cornstarch. Add an extra tablespoon of cornstarch to the beef broth mixture and give it a stir. The sauce should begin to thicken right up.
