This Valentine candy is super fun and easy to make. Let's be real, everyone loves chocolate and marshmallows. The sweetened condensed milk adds a creaminess to the fudge that is smooth and silky.
The recipe is also very versatile. While it will be an awesome treat to celebrate Cupid, you can easily change up the toppings to celebrate any holiday.
The squares can be cut and placed in cellophane bags and given to friends as treats too. They are always a hit as a pot luck dessert.
INGREDIENTS
Tips:
- Don't rush the melting of the chocolate in the saucepan. Keep the heat low/medium so the chocolate doesn't burn.
- Be sure to line the pan with the wax or parchment paper so the candy lifts easily.
- Spray the spoon that you are using to spread the fudge with non-stick spray. This prevents it from sticking to the spoon.
Step by Step Instructions
Line 13x9 pan with parchment or wax paper.
- Melt chocolate chips, butter and condensed milk in a medium to large pan over medium/low heat, stirring constantly to keep it from scorching.
- Once melted, remove chocolate mixture from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Add peanuts and marshmallows into chocolate mixture.
- Gently stir the ingredients.
- Spread rocky road mixture into prepared pan and add Valentine’s sprinkles and/or candy decorations as desired.
- Chill until set, approximately 2 - 3 hours.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Variations
- Any of your favorite chocolate types can be used, white chocolate too in lieu of the chocolate chips.
- Use any of your favorite nuts. Larger nuts such as walnuts and pecans should be chopped.
- Vary your toppings for special occasions such as green sprinkles, Saint Patrick's Day, pastel for Sprinkles, etc.
- Colored marshmallows can be used if you can locate them during Christmas such as green marshmallows.
- Add in crushed candy such as Snickers or Heath bars.
Storage Tips
Keep any of your leftovers in the fridge for up to one week, if they last that long. If you want to freeze it, wrap in plastic wrap and then foil. Place the wrapped fudge in a freezer safe bag in the freezer for up to 3 months. Let the fudge defrost in the fridge overnight.
