Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add 1 pound ground beef , two Tablespoons of BBQ sauce, 1 clove garlic (peeled and minced)1 teaspoon Kosher salt , and ½ teaspoon paprika.
Gently combine the mixture, making sure not to pack it too tightly.
Divide the meat mixture into four and shape them into patties (about ¾” thick).
Place the cheeseburgers into the greased air fryer basket and cook them at 375°F for 8 minutes, until the internal temperature is almost at 160°F, or your desired level of doneness, using an instant-read meat thermometer.
Divide the remaining 2 Tablespoons BBQ sauce and top the air-fried burgers with the sauce and a slice of American cheese.
Return the burgers to the air fryer for 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Let burgers rest for 1 minute to allow the juices to settle. Serve on hamburger buns with your choice of garnishes such as ketchup, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickle.
