    Our easy homemade ketchup recipe comes together quickly and uses simple ingredients. Our ketchup is tangy, slightly sweet, and kid-approved. Once you try this recipe, you will want to use our recipe and never buy store-bought ketchup again.

    1. Add the water, corn syrup, white vinegar, and brown sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer.

    1. Mix in onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and salt. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

    Eileen's Tips for Success

    • There are just a few ingredients for this recipe. I suggest using the best tomato paste you can afford.
    • Two of my favorites are Muir Glen Tomato Paste or Sclafani Tomato Paste because I love the flavor they bring to various recipes.

    Make-ahead, storage, and freezer tips

    If using a squeeze bottle, be sure it is a BPA-free bottle.

    Storage - Store our ketchup recipe in a covered, airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

    Freezer Instructions: The ketchup can be frozen for up to 3 months.

    To freeze, place 1 to 2 Tablespoons of ketchup in each cube of an ice cube tray and place in the freezer until frozen.

    Put each cube in a large freezer bag. To use, take out the cubes as needed, defrost, and use with your favorite recipes.

    Can I turn this homemade ketchup into a canning recipe?

    Our homemade ketchup recipe has not been tested as a canning recipe. It can be frozen for up to 3 months in a freezer-safe container.

    Variations

    Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways to change the flavor of this dish.

    • Spice: ½ teaspoon chipotle peppers in adobo is a good start to add a smoky spice flavor to the ketchup.
    • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika would add a smoky flavor without adding spice.
    • Sweetness: Agave, Honey, or Stevia can be used to add sweetness.

    Instructions
