Pecan Dip is one of those treats that’s fun to bring to a party and easy to throw together after a busy day. The creamy, sweet filling, crunchy toasted pecans, and that buttery‑caramel, gooey topping… yes, please. It's the ultimate fall dessert.

This dip is composed of two parts: a smooth, cream cheese whipped base and a sticky, rich pecan‑pie style topping. It’s sweet but balanced, takes very little hands‑on time, and always disappears fast at get‑togethers.

    Make-ahead, storage, and freezer tips

Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Make ahead: Make the dip base a day early. Store the topping separately and warm it slightly before spooning it on.

Freezing: I don’t recommend freezing. The cream cheese can separate and become watery.

Eileen's Tips for an easy Pecan Pie Dip

    • Whisk the egg before adding it so it blends right in.
    • Don’t let the topping cool completely or it gets too thick.
    • Fold the whipped topping gently so the dip stays airy and doesn't start to break down.

Change up your Pecan Pie Dip Ingredients

Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways to change the flavor of this dish.

    • Add a splash of bourbon to the topping.
    • Use toasted pecans for deeper flavor.
    • Swap in maple syrup for part of the corn syrup.

FAQs for a great Pecan Pie Dip

    How many does this serve?

It’s ideal for about 8‑10 people if they each take ~¼ cup dip.

Why is my topping hard after cooling?

The butter and sugar in the topping will harden as it cools. To soften it back up, just warm it in a saucepan or the microwave.

    NOTES

Be sure to check Expert Tips and FAQs above with important tips and questions that can help make a delicious recipe.
Note 1: Whisk the eggs in a small bowl before adding to the saucepan. When adding to the saucepan, whisk the butter/brown sugar while adding the egg. This ensures that the egg does not scramble and will blend with the other ingredients.
Note 2: I use Cool Whip Topping for this recipe. I have tested with whipped cream, and it works just as well.
Note 3: When making the topping, the mixture should cool slightly before pouring over the dip. Do not let it cool completely; the topping will thicken slightly when completely cool. Then it will be hard to spread over the dip.
Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Make ahead: Make the dip base a day early. Store the topping separately and warm it slightly before spooning it on.
Freezing: I don’t recommend freezing. The cream cheese can separate and become watery.
