    Storage

This fruit salad is best enjoyed right away but it can keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in a covered airtight container.

    Expert Tips

Expert Tip: The orange juice in the dressing should prevent your apples from turning brown. However, you can coat them in lemon juice or fruit fresh if you want to be sure.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen fruit in this salad?

Yes, you can use frozen fruit. Just be sure to thaw it first and drain any excess water before adding it to the salad.

Can I make this ahead of time?

This salad is best made right before you plan to serve it. However, you can make the dressing ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The fruit will start to release its juices and soften as it sits in the dressing, so if you do make it ahead of time, I would recommend adding a little extra honey to the dressing.

What other fruit can I use in this salad?

The sky's the limit! Use whatever fresh or frozen fruit you have on hand. Just be sure to chop it into bite-sized pieces so it's easy to eat.

    Variations

    • The orange juice is really what gives this fruit salad its flavor, however, if you are out of orange juice you can use lemon or lime juice instead.
    • Don't have honey on hand? You can use maple syrup or agave nectar instead.
    • If you want a little extra sweetness, you can add a sprinkle of sugar or some chopped fresh mint to the salad.
    • You can use a mix of fresh and frozen fruit in this salad. The frozen fruit helps keep the salad cool and gives it a nice texture.
