- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place parchment paper on a large baking sheet. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside
- In a large mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy and well combined, about 5-7 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and beat until blended after each egg is added, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet mixture, scraping down the sides as needed. (Do not overmix the dough)
- Use a spatula to fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms.
- Using a medium cookie scoop to form even-sized cookie dough. Place on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Press extra M&Ms into the top of each cookie dough ball. (Note 3)
- Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes. The sides and bottoms of the cookies will be golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool 5 to 7 minutes on the cookie sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to completely cool.
