🔪 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer with beaters attached, cream the butter, sugar, and almond extract until creamy and combined, about 4 minutes and the mixture will be light yellow and well combined.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients, whisk the flour and salt until combined.
  4. Use the electric hand mixer to gradually beat the dry ingredients into the wet until a dough forms.
  5. Mix in the 1⁄4 C Valentine’s Day sprinkles
  6. Lightly flour a cutting board and roll the dough into 1⁄4 inch thick rectangle. Use the cookie cutter and cut out mini heart cookies.
  7. Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack
  8. Using a small bowl, whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until combined and smooth
  9. Place the hearts onto the cookie sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  10. Move the cookies to a wire cooling rack and allow the cookies to cool before decorating.

Icing

  1. Using a small mixing bowl, whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until combined and smooth.
  2. Spoon the icing into the piping bag and cut the tip off.
  3. Drizzle the icing over the cookies. Sprinkle some cookie sprinkles on top and allow the icing to harden before enjoying!

⭐ How to store, reheat, and freeze

  • These cookies will store in a covered airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature. To freeze, place the cooled cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet until frozen solid, about 2 hours. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
