    Instructions

    1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together dry ingredients, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, Italian seasoning, and salt.
    2. Add greek yogurt to dry ingredients and mix well. Use your hands to gently knead the dough.
    3. On a floured work surface, divide the dough into four equal pieces. Roll out into four small dough rounds that are smooth balls.
    4. Over medium heat, warm a skillet or griddle with oil.
    5. Cook 1-2 flatbreads at a time (depending on how large your skillet is) for approximately 1 minute on each side, or until they are golden brown.
    6. Remove cooked flatbread. Repeat steps until all flatbreads have been made.
    7. Serve on its own with butter or olive oil. Great with soup, curry, stew, falafels, gyros, etc. Make flatbread pizza.

    Storage

    Store the bread on a countertop at room temperature in an airtight covered container, plastic storage bag, or wrapped in plastic wrap for up to four to five days. The bread does not need to be refrigerated.

    Yes, they can be frozen for up to three months in a freezer-safe container.

    Can I use self-rising flour?

    Yes, just leave out the baking powder and salt in this recipe.

    Yes, you can leave out the seasoning, change up the flavors, even use fresh herbs.

    Do I need yeast for this recipe?

    No, this flatbread recipe doesn't need yeast.

    Variations

    This is a perfect base recipe for flatbread dough and you can experiment with flavors.

    • While your flatbreads are still warm, brush them with melted butter and parmesan cheese.
    • If you want to season your flatbread with garlic, brush with garlic butter while it is still warm.
    • Change up your seasoning blend using garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt and black pepper, sweet paprika, cumin, or any other seasoning your family enjoys.
    • Plain yogurt can be used in lieu of Greek yogurt.
    • Whole wheat flour can be used in place of all-purpose flour.
    • Caramelized onions and goat cheese would be a delicious pairing with this easy flatbread recipe.
