👩🏻🍳 Eileen's Tips for Success
- I recommend that you use wooden candy sticks and not popsicle sticks for this recipe. The popsicle stick may not hold the weight of the apple.
- Try to get the wooden stick in the center of each apple that way it holds up well and makes dipping easy.
- It's important that you dip dry apples into the melted candy, otherwise, the candy coating may not stick.
- Make sure to line your baking sheet or counter with a sheet of parchment paper or wax paper. This prevents the apples from sticking.
- If you don't want a flat bottom on your apple, you can store the apple upside down in a foam block so that the excess runs down instead of pooling at the bottom.
- Use a high-quality black coloring so that you get the best results.

Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways that you increase the flavor of this dish.
- We like the look of a green apple for this recipe however if you prefer sweet apples you could use them instead. Use any type of apple that you enjoy, though a red apple will change the coloring slightly.
- Add a touch of sparkle by using a wet pastry brush to brush on some edible glitter to the candy before it hardens completely.
