    Instructions

This is an overview of the recipe. The full instructions are below in the recipe card.

    Make the donut

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F/177°C and spray donut pan with baking spray. Set aside.
    2. In a small bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
    3. In a separate medium mixing bowl, using a hand mixer with beaters attached beat the milk, egg, vanilla, and oil and beat until combined.
    4. Slowly begin adding the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, use a wooden spoon to fold ingredients together until combined.
    5. Fill a piping bag with the donut batter. Fill the donut wells with the batter. Smooth the top of the batter with a knife until it is even. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes.
    6. Remove from the oven to cool for 10 minutes on a wire cooling rack. Once cooled, flip the donut pan over to release the baked donuts.

    Decorating

    Oreo Ears

    1. Separate the Oreo cookies and scrape the cookie filling into a small bowl.
    2. Cut two slits on the top of the baked donut. (The slits should be the same size as the Oreo cookie halves.) Note 2
    3. Melt the chocolate wafers by putting them in a small bowl. Microwave at 30-second segments until the chocolate is melted, checking after each 30-second interval.
    4. Dip one end of the oreo cookie into the melted chocolate. Dip about 1⁄4 of the cookie. (Set aside the remaining melted chocolate to use for the spider web.)
    5. Stick the chocolate cover end of the Oreo cookie in the slit in the donut. Hold it for a few seconds to make sure the Oreo cookie won’t fall out. Place each completed Mickey donut on a wire rack to set.

    Green Chocolate Glaze

    1. In a glass measuring cup, add the green candy melts. Place the glass in the microwave for 30-second intervals until completely melted.
    2. Pour the melted green candy wafers over the Mickey donut. Cover all of the donuts including the Oreo ears with the melted green melts. Allow chocolate to dry.

    Spider and Web

    1. Remelt the remaining chocolate and scoop it into the piping bag.
    2. To create the web, start by piping out the detail of a spider web by creating an X Pipe a --- through the middle of the X to create a star. Pipe half circles in between each line to create the web.
    3. To create the spider, use the black icing and pipe out some spiders to go on the web.
    4. Make a small dot on the donut. Add the head of the spider by making a smaller dot.
    5. Using the black icing draw 2 short straight lines on each side of the larger dot for the spider legs.
    6. Allow the frosting to harden before enjoying the donuts.

How to store, reheat, and freeze

    • Store these donuts at room temperature in an airtight container for up to three days.
    • If you want to freeze these donuts I recommend that you freeze them undecorated. Then thaw at room temperature before decorating and serving.

    Expert Tips

Expert Tip: Ghirardelli wafers really work best for this recipe, but you can use your favorite brand of chocolate wafers instead if you prefer.
