Expert Tip:  I recommend that you use gel food coloring using liquid food coloring can cause your frosting to be too thin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes brownies fudgy?

The main ingredient in Halloween fudge brownies that makes them fudgy is chocolate. Chocolate has a high-fat content which helps to make the brownies dense and fudgy.

How do you make box brownies chewier?

One way is to add an extra egg to the recipe. This will help to add moisture and make the Halloween-decorated brownies chewier.

Is it better to use butter or oil for Sally brownies?

It really depends on what you are looking for in a brownie. If you want a dense and fudgy brownie, then I would go with butter. If you want a light and cakey brownie, then the oil is the way to go.

Variations

  • If you want to make these sally brownies extra special, you can add some chocolate chips or nuts to the batter before baking.
  • You could also top the brownies with a chocolate ganache or frosting for another easy Halloween brownie idea.
  • This recipe can also be made into cupcakes! Simply bake the brownie batter in lined cupcake tin for about 20 minutes. Then decorate as desired.
  • For a fun twist, you could use different colored icing and make these into "monster" brownies!
