    Eileen's Tips for Success

    • I recommend that you use gel food coloring. Liquid food coloring can cause your frosting to be too thin.
    • If making brownies from a box mix, add an extra egg to the recipe. This will help to add moisture and make the Halloween-decorated brownies chewier.

    Variations

Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways to change the flavor of this dish.

    • Additions: Add chocolate chips or nuts to the batter before baking.
    • Topping: You could also top the brownies with a chocolate ganache or frosting for another easy Halloween brownie idea.
    • This recipe can also be made into cupcakes. Simply bake the brownie batter in a lined cupcake tin for about 20 minutes. Then decorate as desired.
    • For a fun twist, you could use different colored icing and make these into "monster" brownies.

Make ahead, storage, and freezer tips

Storage - You can store these spooky brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
