    Instructions

    • Drain the grenadine syrup from the 6-ounce jar of cherries. You can reserve some to add back to the spiked cherries for flavor.
    • Place the cherries in an 8-ounce mason jar.
    • Fill the jar with ½ cup cinnamon whiskey, or a combination of cinnamon whiskey and the grenadine syrup. Ensure that the cherries are completely submerged - you can use a bit of balled up cheesecloth or wax paper to push the cherries down, if needed.
    • Lightly attach the mason jar lid. Place in a cool, dry spot for 3 days.(NOTE: you can store the cherries like this for up to 6 months.)
    • Add to cocktails, desserts or give as a homemade gift.

    NOTES

Be sure to check Expert Tips and FAQs above with important tips and questions that can help make a delicious recipe.
Note 1: Use any cinnamon-flavored whiskey such as Fireball. Also, if the cherries are not completely covered, use more whiskey.
Note 2: Ensure that the cherries are completely submerged in the liquid. If needed, use cheesecloth or wax paper to push the cherries into the whiskey mixture.
    Variations:
Feel free to change up the liquor and use bourbon, rum, tequila, or vodka. The ratios remain the same and you can have a bevy of infused cherries. If using fresh cherries, the shelf life is not as long as maraschino cherries. They would last about 6-7 days in a mason jar.
