Whiskey Cherries

This are so easy that it really isn't a "recipe"! That said, please make and enjoy these boozy whiskey cherries. Whether you want to add them to cocktails or desserts, give them as gifts for the Holidays, all of your over 21 friends and family will enjoy them. It takes just a few minutes to put these treats together and there is no cooking required. The hardest part is to wait 3 days to let the flavors develop.

Ingredients

Variations:

Feel free to change up the liquor and use bourbon, rum, tequila, or vodka. The ratios remain the same and you can have a bevy of infused cherries. If you decide to use fresh cherries, the shelf life is not as long as using maraschino cherries. They would last about 6-7 days in a mason jar.

What to serve with Boozy Cherries

Besides serving these infused cherries in mason jars and giving as hostess gift, whiskey cherries are perfect to put out as a snack at adult parties. Serve over ice cream, along with pineapple upside down cake, drizzle over coconut oil brownies. A good Hot Toddy with one of these cherries dropped in would be a fabulous treat.

Whiskey cherries in a mason jar for Holiday gifts

Why this recipe works

For me, this is a no-brainer. Please tell me you agree? Take a peek at what a jar of boozy cherries costs and you will be overjoyed with your DIY recipe.

There is nothing complicated here. Take a bottle of cinnamon whiskey and an inexpensive bottle of maraschino cherries. Combine the two and now you have magic.  Ah, yes, please and thank you.

Step by step instructions

Step by step instructions to make whiskey cherries

  1. Drain the grenadine syrup from your jar of cherries. You can reserve some to add back to the spiked cherries for flavor. Place the cherries in a 8-12 oz mason jar.
  2. Fill the jar with cinnamon whiskey, or a combination of cinnamon whiskey and the grenadine syrup.
  3. Ensure that the cherries are completely submerged - you can use a bit of balled up cheesecloth or wax paper to push the cherries down, if needed.
  4. Lightly attach the mason jar lid. Place in a cool, dry spot for 3 days.

(NOTE: you can store the cherries like this for up to 6 months.)

Looking to make homemade food gifts, you will love how easy these mulling spices are to prepare. Almond Roca Candy was  one of my Dad's favorite treats for me to make. Place the candy on cellophane wraps or festive tins. Gluten-Free Cookie Mix would be an awesome fun food gift. I just love these chocolate dipped candy canes, so festive!
