A glass mug with caramel macchiato topped with whipped cream, drizzled with caramel and two straws in the cup.

Our Caramel Macchiato Recipe is decadently delicious. It is flavor-packed with rich coffee and caramel. This is a year round favorite as you can enjoy it as a hot or iced beverage. You will save so much money because this recipe makes it unnecessary to go to Starbucks again!

    Caramel Macchiato Recipe

This is one of my familys favorite coffee drinks. I love it hot but the kids love the macchiato served cold over ice. Set up a coffee bar with all the makings for this tasty coffee plus homemade Hot Chocolate. Serve some cake-pops and the family will think you are a Starbucks chain.

    Ingredients

The ingredients are simple and easy. Feel free to use homemade caramel sauce. However, store made sauce is what I use most of the time. If you need a lower fat ingredient for the heavy cream, we've used light whipping cream. A slightly different texture but delicious.

Espresso is used in the Starbucks macchiato, however, a strong coffee can be used.  To make espresso, use either an espresso machine or a stovetop type of espresso maker, or use Instant Espresso. The other option is using strong coffee, which my family prefers.

    Instructions

Pour the coffee or espresso into a mug or cup. Add in the sugar.

    Mix in the caramel sauce.

Caramel sauce on a Tablespoon over a white coffee cup.

    Add in the heavy cream.

Serve hot, topped with whipped cream and drizzle with more caramel sauce. For an Iced Caramel Macchiato, add ice to the espresso mixture, then top with whipped cream and caramel sauce.

    Storage Tips

Once the  hot macchiato is made, it is best to drink it. We have kept leftover espresso in the fridge for 1-2 days without any other ingredients.

    Serving Suggestions

While enjoy this macchiato on its own is awesome, how about having a little sweet treat with it? Our Pecan Sandies are super popular and would be a great cookie to snack on with the coffee. A slice of Pineapple Upside Down Cake would be another delicious choice. Our Cream Cheese Danish is another sweet treat to enjoy.

Some more of our favorite drinks include this fall favorite, Pumpkin Spice Latte. Warm Spiced Cranberry Punch, a winter favorite. Last but not least, my Dad's Famous Irish Coffee.
