Welcome to Everyday Eileen! I’m Eileen Kelly — professionally trained cook, two-time cookbook author, and proud mom of five (plus our beautiful bonus baby, my wonderful niece). For over 40 years, I’ve been cooking for my family of seven, and in 2016, I turned that lifelong love of feeding people into this website.
Every recipe here has been made in my kitchen, tested by my real family, and only shared when it gets a thumbs-up from everyone at the table. Quick, easy, delicious, and family-approved — that’s the Everyday Eileen promise.
I’m also the author of two cookbooks: Quick and Easy 5-Ingredient Cookbook and Simply One Pot Cookbook. And I’m thrilled to be appearing on Food Network’s 100 Cooks, premiering June 7, 2026!

My Culinary Journey
I started cooking at around five years old, and by twelve, I was making family dinners from scratch. Some of my earliest creations are still fan favorites today — like my Pork Chops and Sauerkraut, which my dad absolutely loved, along with my Italian Meatballs, Sausage and Peppers, and our family’s treasured Rugelach.
I self-trained for years using cookbooks — and my love of Julia Child runs deep. I still refer to her books today. Later, I went on to receive formal professional culinary training, and I am currently pursuing my Professional Cook’s Certification and a Vegan Dessert Certification through Rouxbe Culinary School.
My Blue Ribbon Irish Soda Bread and Irish Brown Bread have won multiple baking awards — and they remain two of the most-made recipes on this site.
The Story Behind Everyday Eileen
In 2016, I had a series of strokes that left me with a brain injury and weakness on my left side. It was one of the hardest chapters of my life — but it also became one of the most meaningful.
Getting back into my kitchen was part of my recovery. The smells, the sounds, the act of creating something from scratch for the people I love — it brought me back to myself. My family encouraged me to take the recipes I had been making for decades and share them with the world. And so, in 2016, Everyday Eileen was born.
What started as a way to heal has grown into something I never could have imagined: two published cookbooks, a community of over 250,000 people on Facebook, features in People Magazine, Pioneer Woman, BuzzFeed, and TheKitchn, partnerships with brands like Smithfield and Nestlé — and now, a spot on Food Network’s 100 Cooks, premiering June 7, 2026.
I cook from love. I share from love. And every recipe on this site has been made with my family in mind — because at the end of the day, that’s what all of this has ever been about.
“Real food for real families. That’s the Everyday Eileen promise.”
My Family
I am so blessed to have my incredible husband, Matthew, who supports everything I do — love you always. We have been married for 36 years (and yes, we went to the same elementary school two years apart — we love that story!).
We have five children: four grown and our beautiful bonus baby, my amazing niece, who brings nothing but love and laughter into our home every single day. They are my best taste testers, my toughest critics, and the reason I never stop trying to make the next recipe even better.
We love to travel — Ireland has my heart, and if I could move there tomorrow, I would be packing my bags tonight.
My Most-Loved Recipes — Family Tested, Family Approved
You won't guess this about me
- Watching family and friends enjoy my food creations brings me more joy than I can describe.
- When I’m stressed, a pot roast is going on the stove. When I’m not stressed, a pot roast is going on the stove.
- My Sunday Sauce is made any day of the week.

- Two of my daughters are Division I college athletes: Deirdre played lacrosse, and Mairead ran Track and Field and Cross Country.

- Matthew’s mom was the most wonderful mother-in-law — kind, warm, and truly the best.
- My Dad is, and always will be, my hero.
- The best thing I have ever done is raise my children and my niece.
