Maple Glazed Ham is an easy and quick recipe for a decadently delicious spiral ham. We are using a boneless ham which makes the entire process even easier however, a bone-in ham can be used. A perfect recipe for Holidays like Easter and Christmas.

One of my favorite Holiday meals is a baked spiral ham. It's not only delicious but it's easy to make and the leftovers are great. Just try our Creamy Ham and Pea Pasta.

This is also a great recipe for a newer cook to start with when you want to make a special meal. It is super easy to prepare and always delicious.

    Ingredients

The ingredients to make a maple glazed ham, the boneless ham, maple syrup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard on a board
    • Spiral Ham: We use a boneless spiral ham. The maple glaze will work on a bone-in ham and smoked whole ham.
    • Pure Maple Syrup: Be sure to use pure maple syrup. Please do not use "pancake syrup" for this glaze.
    • Light Brown Sugar: If using dark brown sugar, the ham will have a molasses flavor.
    • Dijon mustard is awesome and adds a nice zing to the maple syrup. If unavailable, brown mustard will work.

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • Being a boneless ham, it is easy to maneuver in and out of the oven, as it is not heavy.
    • The ham is sliced, which makes a gorgeous presentation and is easy to slice.
    • With just a few ingredients and about an hour, you'll have a fabulous meal.

     Instructions

A spiral ham in a clear glass bowl next to a white bowl with a maple glaze that will be placed on the ham.
    1. Place the ham on aluminum foil in a shallow pan or baking dish. The ham will be wrapped in the foil while baking to prevent the ham from drying out.
    2. Make the maple glaze by combining brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let simmer 2-3 minutes.
    3. {Place half the glaze over the ham. Bake, uncovered for about an hour at 350°F.
    4. Spoon remaining glaze over the ham and bake, uncovered for another 15 minutes. The ham will be heated through.

    Eileen's Expert Tips

    • The ham is precooked, and you will only need to warm it up and glaze it.
    • Wrap the ham in aluminum foil before roasting will ensure the moisture stays in the ham.
    • Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes of roasting.
    • A boneless ham needs to cook about 10-15 minutes per pound in a 350°F oven.
    • Refer to the USDA Ham chart for specific info regarding heating temperatures of ham.
    • In general, the internal temperature of a ham should be between 140°F to 165°F.
    • For feeding a crowd, for boneless hams, plan on ⅓ to ½ pound per person.

    Leftovers and Storage

    • When I make baked ham, I want leftovers because there are so many things to make with them. Check out my leftover ham recipes. The leftovers can be kept in a covered container or storage bag in the fridge for up to 3 days.
    • You can also freeze the leftover ham and use them within 3 months.
    • To make this ahead of time, I would only make it one day ahead if needed. The morning of an event is also a good time to make the ham.
