    Eileen's Tips for Success

    • Spices: As the spices sit in the cabinet, they lose their flavor so make sure they are fresh for the best flavor.
    • Texture: If you want a fine powder, use a spice grinder to blend the seasoning.
    • You can also use this homemade poultry seasoning blend on game birds as well.

It's an aromatic blend that adds flavor to poultry dishes.

    Variations

Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways to change the flavor of this dish.

    • Herbs: Adjust your homemade seasonings, add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, celery seeds, or any other spice your family enjoys.
    • Additional seasoning: Add salt and black pepper to poultry blends for more flavor.
    • Spice: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to your homemade poultry seasoning.

Make ahead, storage, and freezer tips

Storage - For best results, store the seasoning blend out of direct sunlight and in a cool dry place for up to six months.  I prefer to use a glass dish instead of plastic as that can extend the shelf life.

    NOTES

Be sure to check Expert Tips and FAQs above with important tips and questions that can help make a delicious recipe.
Note 1: ½ teaspoon per serving is how I calculated this recipe. It makes about 6 ½ Tablespoons
Note 2:  I don’t add salt and pepper to my poultry seasoning mixtures because you’ll want to add that to taste per each dish. It will vary from meal to meal on how much salt and pepper you might need.
Note 3: Don’t be afraid of the nutmeg as it is quite a common ingredient in poultry seasoning. I highly recommend you add it to the seasoning mix for the most amazing poultry seasoning blend.
Note 4: For seasoning, start with ½ teaspoon of poultry seasoning per any recipe and add more as needed.
