    Eileen's Tips

    • Make sure that the internal temperature of your turkey breast reaches 165°F. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the breast. You may need to adjust the cook times based on the size of the roast.
    • Thaw the turkey before preparing this recipe to prevent any food safety issues.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I need to cook a turkey breast in the slow cooker?

I recommend cooking on low for 3 to 5 hours or until an instant-read meat thermometer inserted in the thickest part reads 165°F to 170°F. The cooking time can vary based on the speed or temperature of your slow cooker.

Can I use a slow cooker liner?

Yes, you can use a slow cooker liner for easy clean-up.

Can I cook the turkey in the slow cooker at a high temperature?

Yes, you can cook the turkey breast at a high temperature in the crockpot for 2 to 3 hours. However, I recommend using low because the roast will be more tender when cooked that way.

Is it safe to cook a turkey in a slow cooker?

While a whole turkey will not fit in a slow cooker; turkey breast and turkey tenderloins get mouthwatering results in the crockpot.

    Variations

    • Substitute 1 teaspoon of dried thyme for the poultry seasoning.
    • Add a little spice to this turkey by adding a dash of Cajun Seasoning.
    • If you need a gluten-free version of this slow cooker turkey breast with gravy use a gluten-free gravy mix.
    • If you want crispy skin on this juicy turkey breast, pop it under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes once it has finished cooking.
    • Add a delicious flavor by placing a bundle of fresh herbs on the bottom of the slow cooker, and then place the roast on top.
    • If poultry seasoning is unavailable, combine these dry seasonings together, 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and if you have it thyme.
    • A bone-in turkey breast can be used. Be sure it fits in the vessel of your slow cooker. A bone-in turkey will need a bit more time, add at least 30 minutes to one hour to the cooking time, depending on the size of the turkey.

    NOTES

Be sure to check the Expert Tips and FAQs above with important tips and questions that can help make a delicious recipe.
Note 1: If using a packet, 1 envelope will yield 1 ounce.
Note 2: Cooking times in a slow cooker can greatly vary which is why I have given the cooking time 3 to 5 hours. Begin checking the turkey at 3 hours of cooking time. The internal temperature will be 165°F /74°C when the turkey is cooked through.
Storage: Store leftovers in a covered airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
    Tips and Tricks:
    ●      This recipe also works with a bone-in turkey breast, but will require a little longer cook time.
    ●     The netting can stay on the turkey to help hold it together, but it can be messy to remove after cooking.  I have not had any trouble with the turkey falling apart without the netting.
    ●      You can pop the turkey under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp up the outside if desired.
    ●     I love making this during the week and making the most amazing turkey sandwiches out of it.
    ●       You can add some carrots, onion, and celery underneath the turkey for some aromatics.
