    🔪 Instructions

    Preheat oven to 400°F/204°C.

    Step 1: Break up the pizza dough into pieces. And, place them around the outer edges of the cast iron skillet.

    Step 2: In a mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, parmesan, 1 cup of mozzarella, and cheddar cheese. Add oregano and basil and mix until combined.

    Step 3: Spread the cream cheese mixture into the center of the cast iron pan until the mixture is touching the edges of the pizza dough balls.

    Step 4: Pour the pizza sauce on top of the cheese mixture and spread it out.

    Step 5: Add the remaining mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce.

    Step 6: Top with pepperoni slices.

    Step 7: Mix the melted butter and garlic salt. Then use half the garlic butter to baste over the top of the pizza dough balls.

    Step 8: Bake in the pre-heated oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese is browned and the dough is cooked.

    📖 Variations

    Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways that you vary the flavors of this dish.

    • Want to add a little heat to your pepperoni pizza dip? Sprinkle the top of the gooey cheese with some red pepper flakes before you add the last of the mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
    • Add an extra punch of flavor to the cream cheese mixture by adding Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • Feel free to get creative and add your favorite pizza toppings to the top of the dip—options like green peppers, black olives, or Canadian bacon all work great. 
    • Don't have pizza crust on hand? Canned biscuit dough would also work as well. 

    👩🏻‍🍳 Eileen's Tips for Success

    • If your cast iron skillet isn't well seasoned you will want to grease it with a light layer of olive oil or spray it with nonstick spray to prevent the garlic bread from sticking. 
    • Fresh mozzarella cheese is what gives this simple dip the gooey pizza effect, however, you can experiment with different cheeses to find the combination that your family loves. 
    • I like to use pizza sauce, however, your favorite marinara sauce would also work for this delicious pull-apart garlic bread pizza dip recipe.

    ❄️ Make ahead, storage, and freezer tips

    Make ahead: This dish is best when enjoyed fresh, however, if you want to save a little time in the kitchen you can fill the skillet with the ingredients and then cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator until you are ready to bake it. 

    Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. 

    Freezer: If you have leftover dip, you can freeze it for later. Put the dip in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

    No, since you are using canned dough, it will not need to rise.

    Yes, you can use homemade pizza dough, your favorite pizza dough mix, or even pick up the premade dough from the bakery dept of your favorite grocery store.

    Skillet Pizza Dip

    An easy Skillet Pizza Dip made in a cast iron skillet. Refrigerated pizza dough balls are around the sides of the pan. The center is made with triple cheese that is perfectly seasoned, melted, and topped with pepperoni. Perfect for snacking, tailgates, and potlucks.

    • 13.8 ounce can, Pizza Dough
    • 8 ounces cream cheese
    • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
    • ½ cup cheddar cheese shredded
    • ¼ cup parmesan cheese grated
    • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
    • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
    • 1 cup homemade or store-bought pizza sauce
    • ½ cup unsalted butter , melted
    • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
    • ½ cup pepperoni slices

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 400°F/204°C.
    • Break off pieces of the pizza dough to create garlic knots and place them around the edge of the inside of the cast iron pan. Leave a small amount of space between each round. Each piece should be about 1 ½ inches in diameter. Set aside.
    • Add the cream cheese, parmesan, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese in a large mixing bowl. Use a hand mixer with beaters attached to combine well.
    • Mix in the oregano and basil in the cream cheese mixture and blend again. Spread into the center of the cast iron pan until the mixture is touching the edges of the pizza dough balls.
    • Pour the pizza sauce on top of the cream cheese mixture and spread with a spoon.
    • Add the rest of the mozzarella cheese on top of the pizza sauce, then top with pepperoni slices.
    • Mix the melted butter and garlic salt and brush the pizza dough balls with ½ of the garlic butter mixture. Save the other ½ for after baking.
    • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the garlic knots and cheese have cooked through and browned nicely.
    • Remove from the oven. Brush remaining garlic butter on the pizza dough balls. Serve warm. Enjoy.
