Serving guacamole as soon as you make it is best. It can be made slightly ahead of time and stored in a covered airtight container for one day.
It is best to place a layer of plastic wrap directly on the guacamole to keep it from browning.
Expert Tips
Expert Tip: Add the jalapeno, red onion, and garlic to the lime juice to allow the flavors to release in the lime juice.
Frequently Asked Questions

It is best to make your guacamole as close to the time of serving as possible to keep it as green and fresh as possible.
The best way to keep the guacamole from browning is to place the dip into a bowl and press it in to compact it. Then sprinkle citrus, preferably lime over the top and press a piece of plastic wrap on the dip, squeezing out any air bubbles.
Place avocados in a brown paper bag with a banana and close the bag to allow the avocado to ripen faster.
Variations
Our version is a classic guacamole recipe but you can add so many things such as fresh cilantro.
In lieu of red onions, try diced yellow onions, white onions, or chopped green onions.
In lieu of the jalapeno peppers, use either a serrano pepper or a poblano pepper for variety.
Add diced Roma tomatoes into the guacamole dip for added texture to the ingredients.
For additional crunch, added diced bacon, yum.
Some like to add a bit of lemon juice to the dip.
