Instructions

- Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray either a baking sheet or a whoopie pie pan with baking spray. Set aside.
- Using a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Using a standing mixer, with paddle attachments, beat unsalted butter, shortening, and brown sugar until combined and smooth, about 5 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
- Alternate between the flour and milk and gradually mix until combined.
- Spoon 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon of batter into the prepared whoopie pie cavities or on the prepared baking sheet. If using a baking sheet, be sure to space the batter at least 3 inches apart as it will spread.
- Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the tops are fluffy and bounce back when touched.
- Allow the pies to cool before frosting. Recipe below.

- Using a standing mixer, with paddle attachments or an electric mixer with beaters, beat the powdered sugar, unsalted butter, cocoa powder, and heavy whipping cream until combined, smooth and stiff.
- Scoop the frosting into the piping bag with a tip.
- Pair the whoopie pies with their size mate.
- Pipe frosting onto the bottom of the whoopie pies place the top on top of the frosting and press down lightly.
Chocolate drizzle
- Drizzle with melted chocolate and place a Godiva heart in the center.
