    Apple pie spice is the perfect addition to your Fall baking repertoire. It's a simple mixture of spices that can be used in all sorts of recipes, from pies and tarts to cookies and cakes.

    Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own, easy apple pie spice mix, so you can have fresh, homemade spice mix on hand any time you need it.

    1. In a small mason jar or bowl, combine the ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground allspice. Mix well. Cover with the lid.
    2. Use in lieu of store-made apple pie seasoning for delicious results.

    Storage

    Store in a cool, dark place for up to 12 months. Be sure to keep your homemade apple pie spice in a covered airtight container to keep it fresh.  I like to use a mason jar.

    No, apple pie spice and allspice are not the same. Allspice is a single spice made from the dried berry of the Pimenta dioica plant. Apple pie spice is a combination of spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.

    • If you don't have ground allspice, substitute with an equal amount of cloves.

    • Both cloves and mace can be added into the apple pie spice blend to boost the flavor.
