📋 Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of tequila is best for spicy margaritas?

Ghost Pepper Tequila is the best choice for a spicy margarita. It adds just the right amount of heat that balances out the sweetness of pineapple juice and tartness of limeade.

What makes tequila spicy?

This tequila is spicy because of the pepper extract that is added to it.

What are other ways to make this drink spicier?

For an extra kick, you could add slices of jalapeno or serrano peppers to the glass.

🧾 Variations

Do you want to change up this recipe? Here are some ways that you increase the flavor of this dish.

  • The ghost pepper tequila can be substituted for jalapeño tequila or regular tequila.
  • If desired, Cholula hot sauce and salt can be used to rim the glass before step 1.
  • Rose’s Lime and salt can also be used for a less spicy garnish around the rim.
  • Or you could also run a lime wedge around the edge of the glass and then dip it in sugar if you prefer a sweet coating to balance out the spice.
  • This drink is not SUPER spicy, the ghost pepper flavor gives it a nice little kick, but it is not so spicy that it will make your forehead sweat or anything. The jalapeño tequila produces a little less spicy flavor than the ghost pepper or regular tequila can be used for a less spicy drink.
