    Ingredients

    • cubed stew beef  
    • yellow onion, finely diced
    • cream of mushroom soup
    • beef broth
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • dry mustard
    • garlic powder or use 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
    • salt
    • black pepper
    • sliced mushrooms
    • cream cheese
    • sour cream
    • wide egg noodles cooked according to the package for al dente noodles.

    Instructions

    1. Prepare the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
    2. Place the stewing beef into the bottom of the slow cooker.
    3. Place the stew beef into the bottom of the slow cooker.
    4. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together diced onion, mushroom soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
    5. Pour the mixture over the beef and mix to combine. Top the beef mixture with the sliced mushrooms.
    6. Dot the top of the beef mixture with cream cheese.
    7. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 5 to 6 hours.
    8. Stir in sour cream until blended. Fold in the egg noodles and serve.

    Storage

    Leftovers can be stored in an airtight covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

    Beef Stroganoff can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

    Variations

    • If you don't like mushrooms or are allergic to them, you can leave them out. 
    • You can also add other vegetables to this recipe such as diced carrots, frozen peas, or chopped broccoli.
    • Try serving this over mashed potatoes, rice, or even zucchini noodles instead of egg noodles.
    • For a little extra flavor, stir in some grated Parmesan cheese when you add the sour cream.
    • If you want a little more of a bite to your stroganoff, add a splash of hot sauce when you add the sour cream.
    • Add a bit of Dijon mustard to the beef stroganoff sauce.
    • A chuck roast can be used in lieu of the stewing beef. Just cut it into 2-inch cubes before adding the meat to the slow cooker.
    • If time permits, brown the stew meat in a bit of canola oil and butter in a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

    Instructions
